Who is Autohouse?
Autohouse was built by the mother and son duo Dot and Jason Wiltshire. Both are lifetime local residents who have deep roots in the community. They are not your typical used car dealers! Dot is a retired school teacher and Jason is a Mechanical Engineer with a degree from Southern Polytechnic State University with specialties in lean manufacturing and Six Sigma training. They are just a hard working family trying to run a successful business. No double talking car dealers, just straight talking neighbors.
Aren’t all used car dealers crooked?
Of course not. Yes, we’ve heard all the horror stories. Used car dealers are the only group with a lower approval rating than Congress! Yikes, that’s pretty bad. Here at Autohouse, we are trying hard to reverse that trend. It’s not easy. We’ve all had an ugly experience trying to buy a car at some point. We get it! Our goal is to make your buying experience as pleasant as possible. How? By selling reliable vehicles, talking straight, and not playing games. Where do we get are vehicles?
We have expert buyers who travel the southeast looking for good, clean vehicles at a fair price. Our buyers are trained to check engines, transmissions, etc. to make sure they are in good working order BEFORE we buy them. In other words, we won’t sell a vehicle unless it’s passed our quality checklist inspection and has our stamp of approval. We only sell vehicles we would want to see our friends and family driving. Why? Because it’s good business. We need to be able to sleep at night. And, it’s just the right thing to do.
How Does your Buy Here-Pay Here Program Work?
It’s simple. All you need to have is a down payment and the ability to make bi-weekly payments and we will finance you. It doesn’t matter what your credit looks like. The amount of the down payment usually depends on the vehicle you want to purchase. As the price of the vehicles goes up, so does the down and the bi-weekly payment. The bi-weekly payments range from $150 and up on our starter cars and go up from there. The length of the term is usually around 2 to 2.5 years.
Will you take $ 500 down?
No, $500 barely covers the TAVT Tax on most vehicles these days. We know some dealers only require $500 down to finance you. We know this because their customers come see us when that $500 clunker breaks down in 2 months…or 2 weeks! Then the buyer is stuck with a JUNKER that doesn’t run but STILL HAS TO MAKE THE PAYMENTS! That’s why we try to buy good, reliable vehicles. Those vehicles cost more and require more down than just $500. Buyers who put down over $1,500 have more “skin” in the game and have a much lower default rate.
What if I don't have the full down payment?
In some situations we can break up the down payment into pieces. For example: if you needed $1,800 down, then you could drive out with $1,500, and then pay the remainder (pickup payment of $300) in 2 weeks. We also take trades of anything of value for down payments! Guns, Gold, Jewelry, Boats, Campers, Motorcycles, Lawnmowers...anything of value we will consider for trade. What Insurance covered is required?
State law requires we have an insurance binder before you drive off the lot after the purchase. It usually only takes a few minutes on the phone to get the vehicle information to the insurance company. They will fax or email us a binder in a few minutes. If we finance the vehicle you must have full coverage with a $500 deductible until your loan is paid off. If you don’t have an insurance carrier we can connect you with several agencies that we can recommend.
What if I have good credit?
Great! We partner with several banks and credit unions to get you the best rate and term possible. You can also use your own bank as well. The great thing about good credit is…you have choices!
